Abstract

ABSTRACT

 

Engagement, resilience and emotional intelligence play an important role in improving student personality due to concerns about the level of student personality nowadays. Issues that often hover among high school students are related to personality fragility, emotional outbursts, weak resilience and the engagement of social symptoms. The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between engagement, resilience and emotional intelligence with sahsiah personality. A quantitative approach of correlation and cross-sectional study was used in this study. A sample of 490 form four students who followed the Sahsiah Unggul Murid (SUMUR) Program in Malaysia using a stratified random sampling technique. Findings show that there is a positive significant relationship between engagement, resilience and emotional intelligence with sahsiah personality in Pearson's correlation test. In conclusion, the implications of engagement factors, resilience and emotional intelligence prove to be emphasized. Especially, policy practitioners and educational policy planners are encouraged to ensure that the sahsiah personality of the student becomes an important basis in developing the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual potential of the student as the focus of the National Education Philosophy.

Keterlibatan, daya tahan dan kecerdasan emosi berperanan penting dalam meningkatkan sahsiah murid berikutan kebimbangan tahap sahsiah murid pada masa kini. Isu yang sering berlegar dalam kalangan murid sekolah menengah adalah berkaitan kerapuhan sahsiah, ledakan emosi, lemah daya tahan dan keterlibatan gejala sosial. Tujuan kajian bagi menentukan hubungan antara keterlibatan, daya tahan dan kecerdasan emosi dengan sahsiah. Pendekatan kuantitatif korelasi dan kajian keratan rentas digunakan dalam kajian ini. Sampel sebanyak 490 orang murid tingkatan 4 yang mengikuti Program Sahsiah Unggul Murid (SUMUR) di Malaysia yang menggunakan teknik pensampelan rawak berstrata. Dapatan menunjukkan, terdapatnya hubungan signifikan yang positif antara keterlibatan, daya tahan dan kecerdasan emosi dengan sahsiah dalam pengujian korelasi Pearson. Kesimpulannya, implikasi faktor keterlibatan, daya tahan dan kecerdasan emosi terbukti perlu ditekankan. Terutama, polisi pengamal dan perancang dasar pendidikan digalakkan untuk memastikan sahsiah murid menjadi asas penting dalam memperkembangkan potensi jasmani, emosi, rohani dan intelektual murid sebagaimana tumpuan Falsafah Pendidikan Negara.
